Window Furnishings That Work Together

The tall, narrow window in the project photographs has dark brown horizontal blinds. Their repeated lines make a clear feature of the window, while the slats can be tilted to change the direction of incoming light. In the living area, a pair of lighter Venetian blinds sits alongside a grey sofa and neutral walls.

Other rooms take a softer approach. White sheers hang behind grey-brown outer curtains, with the heavier fabric gathered neatly at either side. The same restrained colours appear across windows of different widths, from a compact opening to a broader glazed area. When drawn, the outer curtains create a fuller fabric finish; the amount of privacy and light blocking will depend on the chosen fabric and fit.

If you are planning a similar mix, consider how you use each room before choosing its window treatment. Slats offer adjustable light control, while layered curtains let you change the look and coverage by drawing one or both layers. Matching nearby tones can help the blinds and curtains feel part of one home.
